COSTUME & MAKEUP DEPARTMENT

In the costume department we make, buy and modify to make the best costumes for our show. We take on challenges of Pantomime a showcase and a musical. We have many racks of unique costumes for many different shows like a Lady gaga dress or a tin man costume.  For the musical we design our own costumes to match the musical we are doing.

It is safe to say that many people underestimate the importance of the costume department, however, that doesn’t mean that their role isn’t as important as the role of head set designer or sound technician, it is our main job and aim to make sure the actors look and feel good while on stage, which can be as simple as a simple dress and some plain make-up, or can be as complicated as a large, extravagant costume and some very over the top make-up. There really is no in between for the costume department.

Not all costumes are made from fabric the lady gaga dress was made from cardboard hot glue and tape! Or the Beetlejuice costume was a white suit with tape stuck on it!

Fun fact – to keep some costumes together we used zip ties!

Makeup is a self-taught section of our department, most performers do it for themselves but for the few that do not know what they are doing with makeup we are there to help them. We do drag makeup for performances in Panto and Kinky Boots and casual makeup for the ensemble. In some cases, we do basic SFX makeup during quick changes too.
